Discussion should focus on how we will analyze our data...

I have my Benchmark data from the four middle schools, from years 2007-2008 and 2008-2009, for the three Benchmarks that are taken each year from each grade level.  I plan on analyzing the data in comparison to the CST scores of all the schools, for each grade level and academic year.  If the Benchmark and CST scores reflect some correlation in the rising proficiency levels, then I think the Benchmarks will have been an effective tool in helping improve CST scores.

I think we're supposed to use the forum to complete the "Evaluating Research Questions" found on the website- it's where we have to interview a student from class and evaluate their research question.  I'm just going to go through my question again, Irma, so you can fill out the form, and I would really appreciate it if you would do the same.  I think some of the information I wrote above would be applicable to filling out the form/interview as well.

My question is: Have Benchmark Assessments had a positive effect on improving our CST scores?

Let me know if you need more information.  I check my Cal State email daily.

I will fill out the form and send any information that I have for my question.  My question is, Is QEIA funding helping schools increase their API score compared to schools not receiving QEIA funding.
I am actually comparing a wide range of data.  The first thing I did was to identify the schools in my district that receive QEIA funding.  Once that was complete I checked the CDE website and found schools that were similar.  I created three groups,  each group has a school that receive funding and one that does not.  One group includes my school.    I then researched each individual school using their school accountability report for the years 2006-2007, 2007-2008.  When looking at the reports I analyzed schools suspensions, expulsions, teachers with full credentials, miss assignments, and number of other staff members.
The final step was to analyze the API scores for each group.

I have a question how are you citing definitions or are you?  Definitions like CDE, API, and so on.  Are we to assume that these are common knowledge since were are in the educational field?  Confused about this part, do we take them directly form the website?  HELP

Irma, GREAT question!!!  I honestly don't know.  I would air on the more thorough side, so I'd go ahead and site the definition.  Maybe email Dr. Swartz and see what he says?  Sorry, I am unsure too.  I would rather be safe than sorry though!
